Various types of measuring aids are used to measure electrical and mechanical parameters of products manufactures at Switron. It is ensured that all the measuring aids which affect quality are calibrated periodically.

Scope

This procedure is applicable to all the measuring aids used during manufacturing and testing at Switron.

Procedure

All the measuring aids like Verniers, Micrometers, Thread and plug gauges, Ammeter, Voltmeter, HV Testers, jigs and fixtures are calibrated with masters having at least 5 times more accuracy than the measuring aids.

Identification

All the calibrated measuring aids are identified with a calibration sticker has following fields:

• Calibration date.

• Due date for calibration.

• Signature of authorized personnel for calibration.

• Calibration frequency.

All the measuring aids which affect quality are calibrated periodically. The periodicity of calibration is decided based on the following criteria:

1. Frequency of usage of the measuring aids.
2. Accuracy of measuring aids.
3. Traceability.
4. The calibration of measuring aids have traceability to National or International standards.

Responsibility

It's the responsibility of the personnel using a measuring aid to ensure that it is within calibration period. If aid is out of calibration, the user informs QC Manger.

Records
A register is maintained which contains calibration details of all the measuring aids.
